Stantec has an established and growing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Information Management (IM) Team. Stantec's GIS/IM Team, supported by other staff in Stantec offices throughout North America, works closely with project managers and clients to develop solutions that help our clients manage data and information. The GIS/IM Team is comprised of IM professionals, programmers, GIS analysts, and database administrators. Your Duties:
An opportunity is available for a Co-op Student to join our Louisville or Lexington, Kentucky GIS/IM team.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
The ideal candidate should be in at least their 2nd or 3rd year at an accredited post-secondary institution enrolled in Geographical Information Systems, Information Management, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related program. The skills essential to performing job duties include:
Understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data
Experience with the ESRI concepts and spatial data
Data editing, digitizing, scanning and conversion
Development of maps and other cartographic products
Ability to work in diverse work environments
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with others
Ability to work in a team environment
Potentially work outside the typical office environment (e.g. GPS data collection)
Strong working profeciency with the Windows operating system (Word, Access, Excel)
Highly qualified candidates would also have an understanding of:
Python programming in ArcGIS
Experience with other programming languages (e.g. PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, SQL)
web application development
Microsoft SQL Server
