Louisville, KY Louisville, KY Full-time Full-time $45,508 - $58,405 a year $45,508 - $58,405 a year The Peptide Chemist in manufacturing is responsible for performing activities pertaining to the synthesis, cleavage, purification, lyophilization, and drug product formulation of peptide products, following cGMP production procedures according to FDA regulatory requirements and company policies.
Specific Tasks, Duties and
Responsibilities:
1.
Adhere to cGMP procedures according to regulatory requirements.
2.
Follow company policies/procedures and maintains a clean safe work environment.
3.
Follows all documentation procedures assuring that paperwork is in accordance with all company and regulatory standards.
4.
Operate process equipment (Peptide Synthesis, HPLC Purification, and Lyophilization) to manufacture product according to SOP's that meet predetermined specifications.
5, Accurately and efficiently prepare samples based on instructions provided by SOP's.
6.
Fully participate in the laboratory safety and quality processes.
7.
Ability to function both independently and as part of a team.
8.
Performs other duties assigned.
Education or Equivalent:
(Minimum required to perform job) Bachelor or Advanced Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry (helpful but not required) 2.
0-2 years of experience (Including undergraduate research) 3.
Possess a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and attention to details.

Able to effectively communicate both written and verbal information 5.
Willing to work occasional over-time or off-shift hours 6.
Able to work independently under minimal supervision, commensurate with experience level 7.
Good working skills with MS Office Suite applications are required.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
This position requires maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; extensive use of computer keyboard.
Bending to floor level is required.
Infrequent lifting of up to 40lbs.
Essential Physical Job Tasks:

Completion of administrative duties as indicated by position.

Data entry and use of computer user interface tools including mouse, keyboard and any other applicable instruments.
-Setting up office, desk and work station for minimal ergonomic risk factors as deemed necessary.

Lifting and operating in a manufacturing environment - File/Folder storage with non-repetitive light weight lifting, reaching and forward bending as necessary.
- Infrequent lifting overhead reaching less than or equal to 15 lbs.
with the ability to potentially be able to lift up to 35 lbs and push/pull 40 lbs.
Safety Considerations:
Must follow any applicable plant safety requirements.
Environmental Conditions:
Working conditions will be Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioned controlled.
