The Patient Service Specialist (PSS) performs a variety of functions relative to the smooth operation of the department. The PSS serves as the initial contact for the patient, and coordinates/assists in the data gathering process for patients. This position is responsible for all record keeping related to patient data, and serves as a primary liaison to the Billing Department delivering information that is necessary for the Billing Process.
The PSS must possess good organizational skills and the ability to handle information in a confidential manner. This person will have a pleasant personality with the ability to establish good working relationships with varying personalities (patients, co-workers, physicians, the public). The PSS must exercise discretion and independent judgment, provide regular and direct assistance to the Clinic Team Leader and Office Manager, and perform work, special assignments, and tasks under only very general supervision. This position does not provide direct patient care.

The position requires a high school graduate diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in a healthcare facility is preferred but not required. An outgoing, friendly attitude with a desire to provide exceptional customer service is of the utmost importance with this position. The Patient Service Specialist must have word processing skills, ability to prioritize, judgment and decision making abilities, and must be capable handling multiple projects and complete assignments in a timely fashion under frequent and numerous deadlines.
