BALANCE ENGINEER (Louisville KY)
Salary: $90-$100k Plus Bonus

Reporting to Corporate Engineering, this position is responsible for ensuring plant balancing equipment is properly running at all times, and meeting its expected lifespan. This includes training, troubleshooting and on site assistance for all facilities. Responsible for monitoring plant KPIs and executing actions to improve them. Responsible for ensuring current and new equipment is designed properly to meet internal and external requirements. The position shall also measure the facilities performance, calculating equipment, process and labor capacity and requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Create a company-wide balancing equipment maintenance system that shall include standards for preventive maintenance, maintenance logs, down time records, spare parts inventories, and required tools, as well as the training curriculum and actual training for technical team members.
Maintain and monitor (audit) the above system, report, and countermeasure non-compliance situations.
Evaluate / observe / study each plants balancing process compared to customer requirements and performance standards. Create and present project proposals to gain improvements.Implement the proposal when it is approved, and measure the effectiveness of the proposal after it has been implemented.
Remain current on technologies and developments as related to tire and wheel assembly balancing equipment. Apply as appropriate to improve overall equipment performance.
Interact with customers and suppliers, i.e. understanding internal issues, customer requirements and specifications, and engage in problem-solving activities utilizing equipment technologies to solve problems / improve performance.
Assist with Installation and maintain remote access to facility balancing equipment to enable troubleshooting assistance.
Assist with equipment and layouts of equipment for operating facility that meet customer requirements. Help manage supplier commitments for plant equipment installations.
Create and deliver technical training as needed.
Remain available for equipment emergencies and technical support.
Provide support for the technical aspects of plant operations, material handling functions, equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, preventive maintenance and spare parts systems.
Assist the Plant Managers in developing objectives and goals for their annual manufacturing operations, i.e. cycle time reductions, improved equipment uptime as requested.
Help develop plant programs that standardize the various technical components (software, tools/gauges, manuals, documents, procedures, record keeping, etc.) for the maintenance program.
Be aware of plant technical operations to ensure compliance with OSHA and company regulations and programs, and ensure an acceptable level of performance against accident, injury and workers compensation cost objectives.
MUST HAVES:
Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering REQUIRED!
MUST come from a systems engineering, balance engineering, test engineering background and from a tire and wheels facility. REQUIRED!
Tire and wheel assembly balancing equipment experience of at least 5 years REQUIRED!
Experience related to balance equipment including one or more of the following is required: installation / design / development / maintenance / manufacture.
Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting REQUIRED!
Experience with material handling equipment.
Experience working within TS 16949 certified facilities.
Root cause/troubleshooting capability.
Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings.
Organized project management skills.
Project management in automated equipment is REQUIRED!
Statistics background.
Six Sigma training.Lean Training.
Strong verbal and written communication skills REQUIRED!
Experience with computer aided drawing software, AutoCAD and PLC programming/troubleshooting.
Ability to read / interpret engineering drawings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
Ability to travel 75% of time.
Maintain strict confidentiality of any proprietary business-related information to which entrusted.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
