Staff Physician - Orthopedic Surgeon
The selected candidate will follow established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Each Orthopedic surgeon functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff. If selected, your basic responsibilities will include:
Delivering the best possible orthopedic care to our Veteran patients. Participating in and/or managing all aspects of a general orthopedic program to include clinical, administrative, and academic components. Participating in and/or managing a broad range of orthopedic surgery practice. This encompasses all areas of general orthopedic and musculoskeletal surgery including major joint reconstructive services. Performing surgery and provide pre-op and post-op care as indicated for major and minor procedures, as well as orthopedic consultation for inpatients and outpatients. Maintaining good diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy. Serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. Teaching colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, other ancillary staff. Participating in a shared rotation of night and weekend on-call coverage, as required. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Board certified/eligible in orthopedic surgery, preferred, not required. Reference:

The physician must be able to physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to themselves or others. Depending on the essential duties of a specific position, usable vision, color vision, hearing, or speech may be required. However, in most cases, a specific physical condition or impairment will not automatically disqualify an applicant for appointment.
