The Administrative officer in Radiology Service must have extensive knowledge of the various programs within the VA System locally and nationally to make evaluations and recommendations so as not to adversely affect patient care. The incumbent maintains and improves health care delivery by improving programs, policies and resource utilization. The following are major duties and
Responsibilities:
Administratively supervises (assigns work and approves leave) for 7 Hybrid Title 38 Advanced Medical Support Assistants. The administratively supervision will be less than 20% of the incumbent's time. Back-up Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) Limited Radiology Picture Archiving, Communication and Storage (PACS) maintenance. Assists Service Chief with personnel administration including personnel operations, position classification, grievance procedures, performance standards and disciplinary actions. PIV sponsor. Responsible for constant surveillance, evaluation and planning to ensure efficient utilization of space based on constantly changing and ever-increasing program demands. The incumbent has the authority to plan for revised space assignments and relocate space to meet demands. Incumbent is authorized to be an approving official for orders for supplies, services, and equipment. Develops Resource Management Council proposals for the Radiology Department. Responsible for managing, planning and implementing new administrative initiatives. Develops, evaluates and modifies organizational structure and systems to achieve program goals. Incumbent is a major participant in the development and implementation of long and short term policies giving special consideration to the integration of local and Central Office administrative and clinical policies, the standards and requirements of various regulatory and accrediting bodies, and to the impact of internal policies on outside entities. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating services with Fiscal, Logistics, Human Resources Management, Police Service, Engineering, Environmental Management, Medical Administration Service, etc. Has authority to direct improvement where necessary and make immediate judgments in time of emergency. Coordinates and analyzes internal review activities to ensure that clinical and administrative functions comply with directives and standards issued by Central Office (CO), The Joint Commission (TJC), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and the General Accounting Office (GAO). Evaluates internal review findings and monitors appropriate Service follow-up of corrective measures to ensure resolution of problems; advises the Service Chief of elements considered unacceptable from the standpoint of quality patient care and utilization of resources; organizes and assists with responses to external surveys and audits; and develops plans (with target completion dates) to ensure resolution of deficiencies. Assists the Chief, Radiology/Radiology Manager in any function he/she requires. Serves in place of the Chief at certain regularly scheduled meetings where coordination of clinical and administrative services is necessary. Conducts special analytical studies to identify critical program, organizational, or functional problems. Develops feasible alternatives and recommending appropriate action in each Work Schedule:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-7, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating and monitoring the functions of administrative services within an office; managing budget activities; assisting with contracting functions and managing procurement; assisting with human resources functions to include recruitment, position classification, performance, training, etc.; preparing letters, reports and presentations; retaining procurement records and reconciliations; making space utilization recommendations. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. in a related field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education. Possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements. Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while seated at a desk or table, typically in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Some standing, walking, bending and lifting (up to 40 lbs.) is required. Physical exertions including stretching, reaching and pulling or pushing cares occurs when assisting with inventories or activities involving retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
