Investigative Assistant (OA)

The positions are located as follows:
2 (two) positions in the Louisville Division in the following offices:
1(one) in the Charleston, WV District Office in Charleston, WV and 1 (one) in the Louisville Division Office in Louisville, KY. Researching, assembling, compiling and tabulating information and figures, as may be necessary to use in investigations, seizures, and as evidence in various cases. Performing work related to gathering, acquiring, and developing resource materials and other information to support the law enforcement, compliance, and/or inspection program mission of an organization, and making recommendations on how to address data anomalies. Performing office automation work requiring the use of software applications, such as spreadsheets, database, word processing, desktop publishing, and graphics applications and various computer equipment. Preparing correspondence, reports, technical documents, graphs/charts, forms, and other office support materials and ensuring correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and format. GS-05:
Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties:
organizing information; maintaining data base records, entering, searching for, retrieving, editing, and deleting data; using word processing and basic spreadsheet software to accomplish daily task; and reviewing basic documents or investigative forms for accuracy and completeness. Experience:
The experience requirement for the GS-5 level may be met by four (4) years of education above high school. OR COMBINING EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and specialized experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT:
Applicant must be able to type 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors. Competencies:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
